Sunshine and fashion make Ladies Day a must-do event for many racegoers.
Kat Stevens, of Anstey Lane, Leicester, was one of a group of friends, and she said: “I like the dressing-up, the champagne and being with the ladies. I don’t know what’s running but I’m going to have a couple of pounds each-way.”
Her friend Sharon Conna, of Aylestone, countered: “I’m to go for a straight win. I’ll be looking at the numbers.”
Two other members of the group had other ways of winner-finding. Markfield’s Teresa Faulkner said: I like grey horses, I always pick them,” while Nickie White, from Sileby, said: “It’s nice to have a get-together with the girls, dress up and have a glass of fizz. I’ll be choosing horses by the colours.”
